New Years Eve and Some Resolutions

Well, I've been pretty non-existant this year. With having a new baby (she'll be 1 on the 3rd), moving into a new house, a new business, and life in general I have had little to no time to write.

That is all going to change in the new year. I miss it! I miss connecting and I miss the accountability that putting myself out there requires. So, this year I am going to start writing more, a lot more. I want to connect to you all!

In January I am making a committment to post every day! Yes, EVERY DAY!! When a lot of other bloggers are taking time off to regroup, I am starting full force. I have a lot of things that I can post about. A new house, a new business, a new year!

I making some resolutions this year also, so look for those in the coming days.

Hope to see you back here tomorrow!

Oh My

Today my sweet little Leah turns 5 years old!

And I feel so incredibly lucky to be her mom. She is sweet, funny, smart, loving, kind, and beautiful. I am so proud of the young lady that she is growing up to be and can't wait to see what the future holds for her, because I know that it is going to be amazing!

Hope that everyone has a lovely day!

Home Alone

...well, almost! I can't believe that summer is over and a new school year has begun. Most of all I can't believe that I have 2 of 3 in school full time.

We had a great first day of school, however we also had some really tired kids. Leah cried 4 times between the time that she got off the bus at 4 to when I made her come in for the night at 7 pm.

I'm not quite sure what I am going to do with myself during the day now that I'm not chasing after 2 kids and all their friends. It's going to be weird to not have people running in and out of my house all day long letting all the air out having fun!

I do know that I am going to try and write more. Since moving into our new house there are some definite things that I want to do and I am going to bring you along for the ride. Remember that I am doing A Bowl Full of Lemons 14 Week Challenge to clean out and organize my house. You can go here to see my kitchen post and look for a garage post or two to pop up this week. It's gonna be fun!

Week 2 - The Garage

So, this is what our garage looked like after a full day of cleaning two weekends ago. We wanted to get it to the point that my husband could park in there (I always park in there). Unfortunately, it didn't stay like this, because we didnt have all the organizational tools that we wanted to use in order to have everything have a place.

Organization So Far:

What Still Had To Go Back Inside:

Unorganized Stuff:

It Didn't Get Much Better Than This:

Since, winter is slowly upon us we want to get this in gear ASAP. We aren't going to be using bikes or strollers or wagons, so we are going to get a rack and some hooks to put these things up and off the floor. That will free up a ton of space seeing as kids things are what takes up the majority of the garage.

Anyway, these are the things that I am thinking about getting to help with the organization:

My daughters 5th birthday party is next Sunday, so this is the perfect challenge, considering that we want to be able to have it inside, so that there is not a ton of craziness inside.

Wish me Luck!

Pencil Pencil Cup

I always like to give my kids new teachers a little gift at the beginning of the school year, just to show my appreciation for all that they do. Sometimes during the school year things get too busy and I don't get a chance, so the beginning of the year is a great time to do it.

This year I decided to do a Pencil Pencil Cup or Vase, depending on what the teacher wants to use it for. I don't remember exactly where I got the idea from, I know it was Pinterest, but I don't know exactly the website, but you can find similar ones here, here, and here.

It was simple to do and didn't take very long. My son loved it and hopefully his teacher will too.

Supplies I Used:
$1 Vase (Walmart)
44 Pencils (Target)
Glue Gun
4 Glue Sticks
Ribbon (Walmart)

14 Week Challenge - A Bowl Full of Lemons

So I joined A Bowl Full of Lemons 14 Week Organizing Challenge and it started September 1st with the Kitchen. However, the kitchen is probable one of the only rooms in our new house that is actually pretty well organized with a place for everything...except, my "paperwork area". It is a MESS!! Or should I say WAS! I managed to get it pretty organized in between the kids starting school this week and trying to get everyone on a new schedule. So, without further ado here are some pictures:

AFTER

I think that it turned out pretty fabulous and hopefully it can keep all my paperwork off the kitchen counters, because it drives my hubby bonkers!

The next challenge is the garage and starts TODAY!! So, if your house needs a huge overhaul or even a little organizing head on over to A Bowl Full of Lemons and join the fun!

Getting to Know You...

Or me!

I figured that even though I have had other successful blogs, that alot of you out there may know nothing about me. So, I figured that I would play a little 32 questions, that I happened to get from over at Elle & Blair. So here goes...

  1. Is it cute when guys kiss you on your forehead? Cute, but not all the time, takes the "specialness" out of it
  2. A big poofy dress or a short party dress? Short party dress, definitely
  3. Are diamonds a girl's best friend? Of course!
  4. Is your hair up or down today? Up, which is unusual since normally its down all the time
  5. Do you straighten your hair? If I don't wash it that day I straighten it, but just to get the kinks out...my hair is actually straight as a pin naturally
  6. Favorite mascara? Nuetrogena because I have really sensitive skin and it's dermatologist approved
  7. Do you get your nails done? Only on special occassions
  8. Small or large purses? As big as it gets
  9. Jeans or sweats? Both, depends on the day
  10. Do you wear clothes/shoes/jewelry that's uncomfortable? Rarely, only when we are going somewhere special
  11. Do you text message a lot? Yes, too much!
  12. Whats your favorite color? Probably purple, but not purple (singing it high), but purple (singing it low)...has anyone seen that commercial I LOVE IT!
  13. Heels or flats? Flats, I love heels, but they are not practical for a stay at home mom who is running after 3 kids all day!
  14. Would you ever leave the house without makeup on? Everyday! I rarely wear makeup, doesn't help that I have really sensitive skin so I tend to dry up when I even look at makeup
  15. Walmart or Target? Target
  16. Do you think lip gloss is the best!? I'm more of a chapstick girl
  17. Do you own any big sunglasses? 1 pair, I break sunglasses a lot!
  18. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? 20-30 minutes, shower to done
  19. Gold or silver? Silver
  20. Do you like to wear dresses? Love them, so comfortable...I need more
  21. In the last 48 hours have you hung out with a guy? Yes, considering that I am married to one and raising another little one
  22. Do you like to hold hands? Not really
  23. What do you notice when you first meet a guy? Probably his smile
  24. Do you like making eye contact? I try to make eye contact with everyone as much I can. I think taht you can tell a lot by whether or not a person makes eye contact
  25. Would you kill for chocolate? Possibly
  26. On a scale from 1-10 how fun is shopping? 11
  27. Do you yell a lot? I have three kids...
  28. Do you wear sweatpants/pajamas to school/work? Never, I think it's ridiculous. School and work are professional places that should be treated as such
  29. Have you ever dressed unlike yourself to impress a guy? Um, no
  30. What makeup could you not live without? Actually, my moisturizer...makeup is nothing unless your skin is healthy
  31. Do you fall in love easily? No
  32. Do you have cramps? Not now

So that was fun...I think I'll do a different set next week. If you would like to do it too then link back here and I will come check it out. I love to get to know all the bloggers out there! I am a blog addict!

Everyone have a great week. Think that we'll hit up the zoo this week and see what the rest of the animals do during the day.

Back to School Clutter Control

I can't help but think to myself that once my two oldest children go back to school that I will have more time to do things.

You know...things.
Like scrapbooking, unpacking, decorating, clutter control. This is my dream.

However, in reality my daily life is not necessarily taken up by my two oldest children, but my one...I am obsessed with mommy...7 month old. So, in truth, my time is just not managed as wisely as it could be.

So, I decided to take charge of things and schedule time for back to school clutter and overall life control! Right now, I'm not quite sure what that means, but it's a start.

Until September 4th though I will continue to have my time taken up by these 3...

AND THOROUGHLY ENJOY IT!

Here I Go...

For a few weeks now I have been trying to figure out what to write for my first post. You would think that I would have a little bit of experience in this since I had a blog before for a few years. But this time is different. It's not just posting my little projects here and there. It's about showcasing my life. Showcasing how I am trying to make a home for my family.

You see we are uprooting our family of 5 in a couple of weeks to a whole new part of the state, to a new city, county, school district, and settling down in our forever home. This is a wonderful, scary, exciting time for all of us and I want to make this as simple a transition for my 3 little kids as possible.

The house we are in is the only house that they have ever known and I know that this is going to be a huge adjustment for them. I want them to feel like this new house is there home. The home that they will make memories for years to come, at Christmas time, and birthdays, graduations, and celebrations. The home that they will return to during college and when they start families of there own.

So this is where I am going to record our new adventure, or as I like to think of it...our journey from house to home!

Here is where it all begins, on June 29th!
